This Valentine’s Day and Every Valentines Day

IMG_1062

I’m a firm believer that we should stop wasting money on things and start investing time in the creation of memories. I challenge you to give the gift of your time and experiences this Valentine’s Day rather than a piece of jewelry or a lavish present. There is no gift more precious than your time. Cancel your dinner reservations and plan a picnic after a hike. Roast s’mores over an open fire pit or get wasted with each other while you make dinner. Happy Valentine’s Day to all you beautiful people out there. Try something new to show your loved ones how much they are cared for.

Until Next Time, Safe Travels

  1. I love this so much!

I am a firm believer in the same principles. Ever since I made my website, I started going by my list and choosing whatever fit when making holiday or birthday plans! Last Valentine’s Day, my husband and I went out of the norm and did something from my bucket list (creating memories!) and this year we’re doing the same. Somehow we manage to have them tie in together, so it is awesome.

Memories last forever and things fade away. This was a message I learned and it really smacked me in the face a few months ago. I did everything I could to stop buying THINGS (I pretty much quit trying to get a brand new car and thinking about buying our first house) and started thinking about where we could go and the experiences we could have.

It was all because of a photo of someone in a casket with pictures hanging on the wall of memories and they had none of their stuff. It was a turning point for my life.

    Thanks for sharing!

    1. I really enjoyed reading this response. You make some awesome points and I strongly agree with each. The description of the photo you described in this comment makes a huge impact without even showing it. You will never be able to take the material things with you however the memories you created will live on through your loved ones and the stories they tell about you.

Thank you so much for your comment. I really enjoyed reading your thoughts. Happy Valentine’s Day to you and your husband! Happy and Safe travels!

  2. Yes, you share my thoughts in general with gift-giving & spending. We need to create memories and meaning and then value them more highly than those superficial things our culture wants us to value.
Happy Valentine’s Day to you and yours. We’ll be sharing a kiss on the beach tomorrow!

  3. I 100% Agree. First v-day spent single in a long time. Spending it with my sister, having late night chats, doing puzzles, and just being silly ❤
